Note on Purification and Zakat

  • Purification and Zakat (for long-term investing) calculations are in USD per share and based on AAOIFI methodology. AAOIFI requires purification every financial period (e.g. quarterly).
  • If you follow S&P Shariah’s Dividend-only purification, then remove the impure income % from the dividends you receive. No purification required for non-dividend paying stocks, according to S&P Shariah.
  • For Zakat, if you did not invest in a company from a long term perspective, then consider the shares as trading goods and give 2.5% of the total value if a year has passed on them.

Company Profile

Diversified United Investment Limited is an Australia-based investment company. The Company invests in Australian and international equities. The Company’s investment objectives are to create and maintain a diversified portfolio of quality Australian companies, primarily through shares listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) and with an exposure to international markets, with a medium to long term view of providing income and capital appreciation. It also actively manages the portfolio to monitor and reduce risks and identify market opportunities as they arise. It provides dividend income to shareholders which is sustainable over the long-term, maintaining full franking when possible. The Company operates a Dividend Reinvestment Plan (DRP) under which shareholders may elect to have all or part of their dividend payment reinvested in new ordinary shares. It seeks to diversify its portfolio by including exposure to select international markets and sectors.
